Ms. Patterson is a dynamic oral advocate, with a passion for helping people handle complex legal problems. She has experience in trial and appellate work in a variety of legal fields, including criminal, estate administration, and civil litigation. Judges and opposing counsel alike have complimented her courtroom presence, as well as her adept arguments.

Following her graduation from Duke University School of Law, Ms. Patterson served as Staff Attorney for the Fairfax Commissioner of Accounts, overseeing estate administration, obtaining judgments against delinquent fiduciaries, and advising well-meaning fiduciaries to an agreeable resolution of their estate. With the Commissioner of Accounts, she spent over two years learning the basics of estate administration, as well as dealing with more unusual estate administration issues.

Prior to joining VerStandig Law Firm, Ms. Patterson worked with a small Virginia firm where she managed the firm’s estate planning and administration practice. There, she also developed experience with complex civil litigation, including insurance defense and construction litigation. Ms. Patterson also has extensive criminal experience, having interned in a variety of prosecutor offices, including the US Department of Justice and the Arlington Commonwealth Attorney.

Community Involvement

Outside of the legal sphere, Ms. Patterson serves as Secretary for the Arlington Commission on the Status of Women, which the Arlington County Board regarding issues affecting women. She also volunteers as Northern Virginia Regional Co-Director for Destination Imagination, an educational non-profit for students which hosts tournaments in STEM, fine arts, and service learning fields.

Ms. Patterson is a trained yoga instructor, an on-again-off-again runner, and an avid Georgia football fan.
